Duotone Volt D/LAB 2027 Surfboard
Volt D/LAB, explosive small wave surfboard from Duotone
There are those days when the wind is good, but the waves are anything but impressive. Slow, mushy and without much punch. That is exactly where the Duotone Volt D/LAB 2027 feels at home. This is the high performance surfboard for small to medium-sized waves, developed by shaper Sky Solbach together with Duotone team riders Pedro Matos, Matchu Lopes and Sebastian Ribeiro. Where other surfboards start to stall, the Volt powers through dead sections with just a little help from the kite.
It all starts with the shape. A low entry rocker combined with plenty of volume and surface area under your front foot allows the board to plane instantly and build speed quickly. You generate drive from your first bottom turn and maintain that speed, even when the wave briefly flattens out. The refined Double Concave Bottom provides grip and precision on the wave face, allowing you to make tighter turns without the rails breaking free. Whether you're carving on the shoulder or going vertical into the lip, the Volt keeps doing exactly what you want it to do.
Did you already ride a Volt D/LAB last year? Then you know exactly what to expect. For 2027, this board is a technical carry-over: the same shape, the same sizes and the same D/LAB layup, only with a new colorway. Duotone simply had very little to improve on this design, and that may be the best compliment a board can get.
The D/LAB construction is what sets this board apart from the Volt SLS. The deck uses carbon at +/- 45 degrees for maximum responsiveness and direct feedback under your feet. The base combines glass fiber at +/- 45 degrees with a full Innegra layer, which reduces vibrations and makes the board more resistant to crashes and choppy water. A carbon stringer keeps the overall feel sporty and lively. On top of that, the RMF Shock Absorber 3.0 uses a layer of reflex memory foam to absorb impacts and reduce chatter on landings. The result is a board that is around 20% lighter than the same model in SLS construction.
The Volt D/LAB is available in 4'11" (20.80L), 5'1" (22.50L) and 5'3" (24.80L), so you can simply choose based on your weight and how loose you want the board to feel. Are you looking for a board that can turn weak North Sea waves into a great session and still respond with razor-sharp precision on a good day? Then the Duotone Volt D/LAB 2027 is exactly what you're looking for.
