Warm winter suit at an attractive price from Prolimit
A good winter suit doesn't have to be expensive, and the Prolimit Ace Steamer Free-X 5/4 proves it. The Ace line from Prolimit is the entry level in the range, but when it comes to warmth and finish you get more than the price would suggest. Basic features, solid materials and a suit that will see you through the entire winter.
The 5/4mm thickness is the gold standard for the Dutch winter. The thickest layer of neoprene sits on the upper body to retain heat around your core, while the arms and legs are made thinner so you keep your freedom of movement while steering and edging. Prolimit uses Airflex 500+ and 350+ NaturePrene2 for this, a bio-based rubber made from FSC certified rubber trees. Completely neoprene-free, then, without giving up any stretch or insulation.
On the inside of the Ace you'll find an HR+ lining on the chest and back. This warm lining traps your body heat exactly where you need it most and dries quickly too, so your suit isn't still damp in your bag the next day.
The Free-X zip is the reason this suit stays so nice and dry. This asymmetric YKK zip attaches at one shoulder, just like most front zips, which keeps the opening small so hardly any water gets in during your session. Getting in is still smooth, even with cold fingers in the car park. The panels are triple glued and blind stitched with GBS seams, where the material is only partly pierced so the seam stays water resistant.
