Some kiters simply want a backzip, and there is nothing wrong with that. The Prolimit Predator 5/4 Backzip 2027 Wetsuit has a backzip that opens the suit up wide so you step into it in a couple of seconds. That is handy if your shoulders are a bit less flexible, and it saves you a lot of hassle on the beach when you want to cool off for a minute. Prolimit puts 5/4mm NaturePrene2 on top of that, so you are not trading warmth for convenience.
This model got updated chest and back panels for 2027 as well. You notice that mostly in the moments you are standing still: less wind pulling through wet material while you lay out your lines or set up your kite.
For the rest the build is identical to the rest of the Predator line. On the outside there is Down Airflex, water repellent, quick drying and soft to the touch. On the inside you get Zodiac 2 with Velvet Airflex: a velvet fleece with a quick drying thermal layer that takes the water off your skin and releases it again fast. The NaturePrene2 Oystershell underneath is 80 percent natural rubber from FSC certified plantations, topped up with recycled carbon black, oyster shell powder and soybean oil.
The GBS seams are triple glued and blind stitched, with the needle only going partway through the material and every thread covered with tape. That keeps the water out and keeps the seam stretchy. On top of that you get KED knee panels, drainage holes and ankle straps.
If what you really want is a back completely free of hardware, look at the 5/4 Free-X, the double frontzip or the new C-Zip. But if you want to make life as easy as possible for yourself in a cold car park, go for the Prolimit Predator 5/4 Backzip 2027 Wetsuit.
