Menās wetsuits at Kitemana
Menās wetsuits are specifically designed around the body shape and movement patterns of men during watersports. In general, menās wetsuits feature broader shoulders, a straighter torso, and more room around the chest and arms. This allows the wetsuit to fit the male body better and leaves less room for water to flush through.
Besides the fit, menās wetsuits also differ in flexibility and thickness distribution. Many menās wetsuits are designed for movements that require a lot of upper body power, which is common in watersports such as kitesurfing. That is why there is often extra stretch in the shoulders, arms, and back. Womenās wetsuits usually feature more contour around the waist and hips for a better fit on the female body.
You can also notice visual differences between menās and womenās wetsuits. Menās wetsuits often have a more neutral or sporty design with darker colors and tougher looks. Still, the biggest difference ultimately comes down to the fit. A wetsuit that fits properly provides more warmth, better performance, and more comfort during every session.
Information about menās wetsuits
The menās wetsuit originated in the 1950s, when more and more men became active in sports such as surfing and diving. In 1952, Jack OāNeill developed one of the first neoprene wetsuits to keep surfers warmer for longer in the cold waters of California. These first menās wetsuits were thick, heavy, and stiff, but they made it possible to spend much longer on the water during cold conditions.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the popularity of windsurfing and surfing grew enormously, causing menās wetsuits to develop rapidly. Fit, flexibility, and freedom of movement became increasingly important. From the 1990s onwards, with the rise of kitesurfing, more specific menās wetsuits were developed for different watersports and conditions. Nowadays, menās wetsuits are technically advanced with stretch neoprene, warm thermal linings, and special fits designed around the body shape and movements of men during watersports.
