Most Frequently Asked Questions about Kiteboard Repairs:
When can I repair my kiteboard myself?
Repairing your kiteboard yourself is often possible, depending on your skills and the type of damage. Common DIY repairs for twin tips include fixing delamination, rail dents, or cracks. Replacing inserts is more advanced but still doable. Epoxy is usually the best choice for twin tip repairs, it cures extremely strong. You can fill a damaged rail with epoxy, let it harden, and sand off the excess to make your board watertight again. Some quick repairs cure so fast that you could be back on the water within 30 minutes! Just make sure your board is completely dry before repairing it, as moisture inside the core can cause the wood to absorb water, making the board heavier and more fragile.
Small surfboard damages are quite common since surfboards arenāt as tough as twin tips. You can easily fix small dents, holes, or cracks yourself, but a broken nose or fin box usually requires professional repair. Surfboards can be made from either polyester or epoxy materials, choose the repair kit that matches your board type. If youāre unsure, epoxy is the safer option. Filling a small ding with epoxy doesnāt require much skill and can be done quickly. Most surfboards are made with foam cores that absorb water, so waterproofing is essential. Some boards use closed-cell foam, which doesnāt absorb water and allows you to keep riding. Still, itās best to repair your board as soon as possible, especially on a no-wind day.

What are the most common types of board damage?
Most board damage happens due to impact or improper storage. Twin tips often suffer from delamination, dents, or rail cracks. Sometimes, inserts or fin boxes loosen, requiring a more advanced repair. Surfboards usually get small dings, holes, or cracks, especially around the nose or fin boxes. Crashes can also cause broken noses or cracked fiberglass. Itās important to repair damage quickly to prevent water from entering the core, as moisture weakens the structure and adds weight. Small cracks can easily be sealed with epoxy or polyester (depending on your boardās material), but larger damage is best left to professionals.
